Impossible to meet expectations account for why some bands labeled
'Super Group' don't last long. Blind Faith, the group
that brought Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker of Cream and Steve Winwood
of Traffic together, parted after only one album and tour.
Since, dozens have come and gone - most mislabeled. Two
deserving ones have emerged this year. Chickenfoot combines
Van Halen veterans Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar
with guitar wizard Joe Satriani and Chili Pepper drummer
Chad Smith. The other, new Power Trio Them
Crooked Vultures, made its debut at midnight in a packed Chicago
club. Get a wrap here on the 12 song set Zeppelin
bassist John Paul Jones, Nirvana & Foo Fighter Dave
Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme
did at the Metro
from the Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune
here.
