Iconic Rocker named 2010 Person Of The
Year.
Neil Young isn't much of an awards guy. He seldom shows up
at presentation ceremonies - and even blew off his Rock Hall
Of Fame induction in 1997 to protest VH1 sponsorship of the
event. He may make an exception for the 2010
MusiCares Person Of The Year gala the Recording Academy holds in
LA on January 29. Odds he is at the Grammys 2 nights later for the traditional tribute to the recipient are a
lot longer. Recording Academy director Neil Portnow
credits Young with "a standard of artistic integrity and
iconoclastic creativity... matched by his unwavering humanitarianism"
His efforts and generosity helped found the Bridge School for children with special needs and Farm Aid,
the annual concert that has raised millions to support family farms
[story].
He also backs the LincVolt efficient car project [story].
