History Channel to air project later this year
The People Speak, a movie inspired and informed by the
Howard Zinn book A People's History of the United States,
has been a work in progress for the better part of the last decade for
actor Matt Damon. The documentary is based on historic
documents, writings, speeches and songs that gave voice to people Zinn
describes as overlooked in traditional history books. Helping tell the
stories are Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Pearl
Jam's Eddie Vedder, Rich & Chris Robinson of the Black
Crowes, Randy Newman and Taj Mahal, along with Damon
and fellow actors Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Marisa Tomei,
Morgan Freeman, and many others.
