The proliferation of social networkers
creating IDs that appear to belong to or authorized by musicians is a
growing problem. A few months ago a post purporting to be from
David Bowie started a rumor, picked up on by several news
sites, that he was in Berlin working on a new album.

Concern about similar dis-information has prompted the Eagles
web site to post a notice advising fans that Don Henley does
not Twitter, use Facebook or have a MySpace
account - nor has he authorized anyone to manage one on his behalf.
