Violent storm tears through Alberta festival site
The marketing slogan for the 17th annual Big Valley Jamboree was
"You should be here..." Last night
(8/1) the Country Music festival site was the last place anyone
wanted to be. One person was confirmed dead and dozens injured in the
aftermath of an intense storm packing high winds that tore through the
festival site near Camrose, in Alberta, Canada. The violent storm
struck the site just before actor Kevin Costner and his band was
scheduled to perform. The sudden collapse of the large stage and its
overhead structure happened as Billy Currington played. One
member of his band had not been accounted for as medical and security
personnel worked to rescue those trapped in debris.
