Paul Simon and Bob Weir first met in 1967 when Simon stopped by the Dead's Haight Ashbury hous in San Francisco to invite the group to play at the Monterey Pop Festival, but the two had never performed together until last night when Weir joined Paul during his set at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park. Given that Paul had already announced his retirement for live performing, it's a pairing unlikely to ever happen again.
Bob Weir, Johan Mayer and the Campfire Band closed out a couple of sets of music dedicated to Jerry Garcia Friday night (8/4) at Red Rocks with Friend of the Devi and Brokedown Palace. Garcia would have turned 75 on August 1.
The lighting of the Empire State Building was synched up with the rendition the Dead & Company did of Touch Of Grey at CitiField on Saturday night (6/24).
