Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune
Valleys Of Neptune measures up.
Fans seeking to limit purchases to the few gems among the landfills worth of unworthy material from artists no longer around to protect their legacy take notice: Valleys of Neptune is much stronger than most Jimi Hendrix recordings churned out since his death.   Janie Hendrix, the guitarist's step-sister, has stepped in decisively to up the quality control standards for archive releases of Hendrix material.  Valleys of Neptune, is a good example of why.  Other versions of  just about every song on it have come out before, but the quality of the takes on this disc beats most, except Red House, Fire and the title that stirred up a lot of pre-release buzz, Cream's Sunshine of Your Love, which was included on a BBC compilation more than a decade ago.
The others, including a couple of songs that were the genesis of future songs, make this a collection anyone who appreciates Hendrix will find worth making space for.
