4/23/1976 The Ramones debut album released

The self titled debut album by the Ramones got its release on this day in 1976. Recorded in under a week at a cost of less than $6,500, the album was initially met with commercial indifference, but it inspired a number of other bands adopt the raw, high energy approach the band took to making music and the album became credited as being  cornerstone of the emerging punk rock scene in both the states and overseas.
